Scotts® WeedEx™ Prevent with Halts® is a powerful pre-emergent herbicide that prevents crabgrass and other problematic weeds, ensuring a lush, beautiful lawn all season long. To achieve the best results, follow these application guidelines:
In early spring, apply the product when the lawn is dry to prevent the germination of crabgrass, foxtail, spurge, barnyardgrass, fall panicum, and oxalis. For fall application (August-October), use Scotts® WeedEx™ Prevent with Halts® to inhibit the growth of moss (except in California) or to prevent the germination of Poa annua, henbit, corn speedwell, and chickweed.
To ensure even coverage, we recommend using a Scotts® spreader. For Scotts® broadcast/rotary spreaders, use a setting of 2 ¼, and for Scotts® drop spreaders, use a setting of 4 ½. If using the Scotts® Wizz® spreader, set it to 3 ¼.
For optimal performance, the lawn should receive ¼ to ½ inch of water from rainfall or irrigation within 2-3 days after application. The product's effectiveness will not be affected by rain, snow, or freezing weather after application.
It's important to note that Scotts® WeedEx™ Prevent with Halts® controls crabgrass in its early stages of growth, but it does not control mature crabgrass or other existing weeds. Additionally, this product should not be applied to Dichondra and Bentgrass lawns.
